(Washington, D.C.) - Flagg Youngblood, director of Vets for Freedom Political Action Committee (VFF-PAC), supports Kevin Calvey in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District and expresses healthy concern about James Lankford's understanding of the issues related to terrorism and national security.

"As a leader in one of our country's veterans groups, I am shocked that James Lankford attacked Kevin Calvey for Calvey's principled stand against the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).  Our veterans deserve better than to have opportunistic politicians like Mr. Lankford trying to score cheap political points at the expense of those who have served our country," says Youngblood.

"Lankford accused Kevin Calvey of 'political posturing' when Kevin took an informed stand against a group with terrorist ties.  Lankford's demonstrated a dangerous lack of understanding about the threats facing the United States."

Lankford recently attacked Calvey in a news article when said he refused to meet with CAIR.  Lankford accused Calvey of "political posturing." Lankford was further quoted saying he would meet with CAIR, unless they committed "treason" or similarly broke the law.

"There's one major problem with Lankford's position," continues Youngblood. "By the time an organization such as CAIR crosses the line, it's too late; people have died."

"The Justice Department listed CAIR as 'un-indicted co-conspirators' during a 2008 trial, when Hamas leaders were convicted for terrorism fundraising activities.  The FBI has severed ties with CAIR and the Oklahoma chairman for CAIR has been indicted for conspiracy and money laundering.  How much evidence does Lankford require?"

"At home and abroad, Kevin Calvey has courageously stood-up to terrorists and terrorist sympathizers," concludes Youngblood.  "Kevin Calvey is THE choice for every Oklahoman who's concerned about protecting the United States; his battle-proven track record makes him the best pick on August 24th."
