The life and career of Duane Sand can be
summarized in two words - public service. As a Naval Academy
graduate, Duane served on three different nuclear submarines
throughout the 1990s, earning the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and
was eventually recalled to the Navy to serve during the Global War
on Terror after 9/11. After a tour on a submarine and a special
assignment at the Pentagon, Duane was deployed to Iraq from
2005-2006. Duane is now a Commander in the United States Navy. Vets
for Freedom applauds Duane's strong commitment to continue his
public service in the United States Congress.
"As a fellow veteran who has proudly served my country in the
United States Army, I am humbled to speak on behalf of Vets for
Freedom in offering our strong endorsement of Duane Sand for United
States Congress," said Vets for Freedom Chairman, Pete Hegseth.
"Duane understands that the fight we are currently undertaking in
Iraq is essential to our success in the global fight against
Islamic extremism. He recognizes and acknowledges the success of
our current military strategy implemented by General Petraeus, and
has been a steadfast source of support to all the men and women who
are winning the Global War on Terror. Our country needs more
dedicated people like Duane in Washington, and I look forward to
working with him in Congress."
Hegseth continued, "As the brave men and women who wear our
nation's uniform continue to serve in harm's way, it is important
that politics end at the water's edge, and that we have elected
officials in Washington who understand and appreciate the
sacrifices they make and why they make them. Duane Sand is the
truest of American patriots, and I am proud to offer the support of
Vets for Freedom."
