VFF seeks to be a visible advocacy presence on Capitol Hill, and
rely heavily on our grassroots "boots on the ground" to lobby
the Congress on issues vital to troops and veterans. We are
pro-mission, and need supporters to rival the powerful anti-war
groups funded by the likes of Moveon.org and George Soros. We
need to make it clear that Americans will not stand for trading
national security in order to score petty political points.
It is clear that the results of a hasty or premature departure
from Iraq would be catastrophic not only to the Iraqi people, but
the whole Middle East and certainly the United States. Rest assured
that "withdrawal", "Redeployment", "drawdown" or "a new
strategy" are simply sugar-coating one thing-RETREAT-and the result
is American forces defeated by Al-Qaeda on the field of battle.
On March 26th we had our National Hero's Tour stops at UNI for a
debate with anti-war proffessors, and at the state capitol in Des
Moines. Both events turned out to be great successes.
At the state capitol, we had large numbers of state congressmen, as
well as the Govorner, and Mayor of Des Moines, come out and
support us. Look below for pictures of the state capitol
event.
The Vets on the Hill event was also a success. We had over 400
Iraq and Afghanistan veterans present at our Nation's Capitol for
General Petraeus' Assessment. State Captain Ben Hayden will
be returning to Iraq on August 4th to assess the progress that is
going on in Iraq.
