Sign up below to join your fellow veterans in Washington, DC on November 5th to ensure that commanders and troops on the ground in Afghanistan get the resources they need to win!
This is our mission. This is our moment. If not you, then who? Who else will take the time to petition Congress and President Obama to give General McChrystal, and our comrades, the resources they need to win the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban? It has come to this. It must be us.
Vets on the Hill: Afghanistan will include scheduled meetings with your Senators and Congressmen, as well as a press event and other high-level meetings/speakers. Additional details are included near the bottom of this page.
Fill out the fields on the right side of this page to join us on November 5th in Washington, DC. After you submit your form, you will receive the specific information about meeting time and location, as well as travel/itinerary details. Other information:
* Travel and lodging will not be reimbursed up front, however any VFF fundraising for this event will go toward covering travel costs. So, we hope to be able to fund a portion of your travel, but this amount is TBD and should not be expected.
* Once you sign up, you will immediately receive the following information:
- Time and place for initial link up in Washington, DC on November 5th (assume between 7-8am)
- Driving directions, maps, and parking instructions
- Basic timeline/instructions for the day (assume day will finish between 3-5pm)
- Other preparation materials
* When you arrive in Washington, DC on Thursday morning, you will receive an in-brief and Vets for Freedom you provide you with the following:
- Detailed itinerary (including your office visit schedule, media schedule, and event schedule)
- Latest Afghanistan news and information
- Capitol Hill map
- Vets for Freedom complementary polo shirt; breakfast provided
* You might be wondering: "If I’m on Active Duty or in the National Guard/Reserves, can I do this?" The short answer is: YES! There is a common misconception that troops serving on active duty or the reserves cannot participate in events like this. This is false. As long as you are 1) out of uniform; 2) not speaking on behalf of "the military"; and 3) not protesting, you are absolutely allowed to be involved.
* For those who have never attended a VFF event, we're not going to protest, wave signs, or scream slogans. We are going to make our voices heard, in a professional manner, in keeping with the finest traditions of our great country and military.
